Dr. Lisa Cordero
Counselor Summary
I have been fortunate to have experienced work in many different arenas in the field of mental health throughout my 16 years of experience. I have two master’s degrees both in the field of psychology and got my doctorate in psychology as well. I am licensed currently to practice in the mental health field in 4 states. I began my work in the field at a state hospital working with clients who had been diagnosed with mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. I worked simultaneously with clients who were hospitalized because their traumatic experiences had made it difficult for them to function productively without support. A large portion of my career has been practicing in the field of substance abuse where I was the clinical director for a privately owned treatment center for over 5 years. I have also always thoroughly enjoyed my work in private practice with a clientele population presenting with varying challenges that brought them in to seek professional guidance. I have worked with professional athletes on improving focus, performance and motivation, couples counseling, family therapy as well as individual therapy. I believe that there are no issues that cannot be alleviated to different degrees when they are faced head on and enjoy my work tremendously.
